National Security Dialogues

National Security Dialogues

The CDA Institute is launching a series of public engagements across the country rolling out in spring of 2025. The objective of these events is to bring together academics, policy makers, community leaders, the business community, and other key stakeholders to deepen their understanding of Canada’s National Defence and Security.

We aim to foster a well informed and engaged community that recognizes the importance of discussing national defence and security issues. By fostering dialogue among diverse stakeholders, we seek to highlight the strategic significance of having a ready and well equipped Canadian Armed Forces to protect Canada’s national interests.

This is a meaningful opportunity to engage in high-level discussions about ensuring Canada’s national security, sovereignty, and future in a rapidly shifting international security environment.

Is your community missing from this list? Let’s change that.

We are looking for partner associations, individual volunteers, and student ambassadors from coast to coast to assist in the setup of events in their communities.  Become a volunteer today and bring a National Security Dialogues event to your city.

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) face an increasingly complex cyber landscape, where threats to national security are evolving at an unprecedented pace. This event, focused on cybersecurity and cyberwarfare in the context of Canada’s national defence, aims to address these challenges by bringing together experts to discuss the critical role of cybersecurity in safeguarding Canada’s digital infrastructure.

In this insightful session hosted by the Conference of Defence Associations Institute, Vice Admiral (Retired) Darren Hawco (Former Canadian Military Representative to NATO and Former Director, General Cyberspace) and Colonel Daniel Blanc (Current Chief of Staff Operation to CAF Cyber Command) share their expertise on cybersecurity and cyberwarfare within the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).

With extensive leadership experience in cyber operations, policy development, and international collaboration, both speakers provide a comprehensive analysis of the evolving cyber landscape and its implications for Canada’s national defence.

This event explores key aspects of cybersecurity and cyberwarfare, including:

  • CAF Cyber Operations: An exploration of the CAF’s role in both defensive and offensive cyber capabilities.
  • National Cyber Security Strategy: Insights into Canada’s strategic approach to safeguarding critical systems and protecting citizens from cyber threats.
  • Global Partnerships: A discussion on Canada’s collaboration with international allies, including NATO, to enhance cyber resilience.
