The Montreal Climate Security Summit is the Programme’s flagship annual event. Co-hosted with the NATO Climate Change and Security Centre of Excellence (CCASCOE), it brings together Canadian and international experts to examine the intersection of climate change, national security, and defence policy. The Summit serves as a key convening platform for policy and military leaders, researchers, and industry representatives to share insights, build partnerships, and shape Canada’s approach to climate-related security challenges.
The Net-Zero and Defence Readiness Project explores how Canada’s defence sector can leverage the transition toward net-zero emissions to strengthen operational readiness. It examines the implications of decarbonization for defence capabilities, infrastructure, energy systems, and the Canadian Armed Forces, as well as opportunities for innovation with defence industry partners.
