National Security & Defence Dialogues
The National Security & Defence Dialogues (NS&DD) will convene a cross-country series of regional dialogues in 2025-2026 to build and advance national understanding and policy coherence around Canada’s renewed defence commitments. We aim to foster a well informed and engaged community that recognizes the importance of discussing national defence and security issues. By fostering dialogue among diverse stakeholders, we seek to highlight the strategic significance of having a ready and well equipped Canadian Armed Forces to protect Canada’s national interests.
This is a meaningful opportunity to engage in high-level discussions about ensuring Canada’s national security, sovereignty, and future in a rapidly shifting international security environment.
Is your community missing from this list? Let’s change that.
We are looking for partner associations, individual volunteers, and student ambassadors from coast to coast to assist in the setup of events in their communities. Become a volunteer today and bring a National Security Dialogues event to your city.
This week in Québec City, we officially launched the National Security & Defence Dialogues (NS&DD), an initiative convening senior leaders from government, industry, academia and the defence community for high-level discussions.
In partnership with the Québec Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Greater Lévis, we gathered for a focused and timely conversation on the future of critical minerals and their strategic importance to Canada’s national defence and sovereignty.
This round table discussion brought together high-level speakers, including:
- Daniel Jean, former NSIA to the Prime Minister of Canada (2016-2018) and former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada (2013-2016)
- Emmanuelle Toussaint, President and CEO of the Quebec Mining Association
- Gaëlle Rivard Piché, Executive Director of the CDA Institute
We are grateful to all participants for an exceptionally rich exchange.
